Skating With ‘Ice Age 3′

Dawn of the Dinosaurs - World's Largest Ice SculptureMy buddies at Jordanah, Inc. produced an outdoor ice skating event at ICE in Santa Monica on Tuesday to celebrate Fox’s Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs Blu-ray and DVD release. And since my hometown friend Breigh was visiting me this week, a trip to the skating rink proved to be an unexpected way for me to share LA’s whimsical spirit with her!

The location was teeming with Ice Age related activities, but  I was most impressed with the giant ice sculpture of the film’s Scrat character that Fox commissioned to break the Guinness World Record for Tallest Ice Sculpture.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Flashback: Mary Murphy

When I heard of Fox Reality Channel’s decision to exit the airwaves in early 2010, I got all nostalgic and had to revisit some of the fun spots that I’d hosted for the network over the past couple years.

This one is an interview that I held with So You Think You Can Dance’s most bubbly judge, Mary Murphy, right after the show’s 4th finale. As SYTYCD moves forward with Season 6, I’m so glad that Ms. Murphy’s effervescence surges on!

Jam Sessions At The ‘Fantasy Factory’

Last time I swung by the Fantasy Factory, Rob Dyrdek hooked me up with a grand tour of the mega playground and sent me down the indoor zip-line (see here).

This go round, Rob busted out a pair of drumsticks – courtesy of Blink 182’s Travis Barker – and went to town with an unexpected drum solo! His secretary Chanel then mapped out a melody of her own by laying down a fluid freestyle.

Onstage At The ‘ABDC’ 4 Finale

After the confetti fell during America’s Best Dance Crew’s live finale this week, I grabbed some time with several of the on-camera and behind-the-scenes stars of the season including competitors Rhythm City and Afroborike, judge Shane Sparks, choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha, Exec. Producer Randy Jackson, and grand prize winners We Are Heroes.

This season’s crew lineup was the most diverse that we’d seen on the ABDC stage – so I’m curious about the tricks that Mr. Jackson has stored up for the next go round!

Mark Burnett’s Respect For Diddy

The handiwork of Emmy winning producer Mark Burnett is apparent across today’s television landscape. From The Apprentice to Survivor, he’s got reality on lockdown.

I grabbed a moment with Mark while on the set of his latest hit Starmaker, during which he discussed his formula for creating incredible drama, shared why fellow Executive Producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is the ideal “Star Maker”, and reacted to being dubbed the “Godfather of Reality TV”!

Breaking With ‘ABDC’s Massive Monkees

As the relegated b-boys of the season, the Massive Monkees left tons of America’s Best Dance Crew viewers bewildered when they were sent packing this week.

Their ouster was such a shock, in fact, that I did a little investigative work and uncovered a steroids conspiracy that may (or may not have!) played a factor within their elimination – it’s all in the interview, hehe!

After the heavy stuff, the crew helped me to summon my inner breaker, and the results weren’t so shabby!!

The Monkees will return for the ABDC live finale this Sunday at 9/8c on MTV.

Kimberly Caldwell And Johnny Wright Have ‘Starmaker’ On The Brain

As P. Diddy continues his search for the next great recording artist on MTV’s Starmaker, he enlists the skills of American Idol alum Kimberly Caldwell to host the program and music manager Johnny Wright (Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, etc.) to mentor the contestants.

Here, Kimberly discusses the kind of talent that Starmaker seeks to nourish, and Johnny insists that the show isn’t a karaoke competition – sounds familiar, eh?
