Lindsay Lohan Waves Bye-Bye to “Ugly Betty”

When Lindsay Lohan started guesting on Ugly Betty last season as Betty’s former nemesis Kimmie, I thought it was a genius move that would remind us of Lindsay’s enchanting acting abilities. But alas, it looks like her days on Betty are numbered.

According to E! Online, Lindsay decided that it was time for her character Kimmie to start reflecting more of her own personal experiences. Since Betty’s creative staff didn’t agree, the final episode starring Lindsay will air on ABC next week. Ah well, Kimmie was fun while she lasted!

Is the rehabilitated bully Kimmie that Lindsay’s been playing on Betty glamorous? Not so much.
Has the role aided in reaffirming Lohan’s on-camera talent? Perhaps.
Do I believe that if she pours herself into her next filmic role, the former Disney kid can stage a Spears-esque comeback? You know I do!

Viva la Lohan!

In the meantime here’s a clip of Kimmie getting an unexpected promotion at Mode:

Terrence Howard Breaks His Silence About “Iron Man 2″ Drama

When I first heard that Terrence Howard wouldn’t be reprising his role as Jim Rhodes aka War Machine in Iron Man 2 because of money issues, I was shocked.

After all, this summer, Iron Man did major business at the box office, and I couldn’t imagine what kind of monetary demands that Howard could have possibly been making that would force Marvel to cut him loose – messing with the casting formula that helped to make the first flick a smash.

But apparently, the story that we, the public, were hearing about Howard’s dismissal from the sure-to-be blockbuster sequel wasn’t entirely accurate. In an interview that Howard did with NPR, he spoke candidly about why he and Marvel didn’t see eye-to-eye in the end.

“Entourage” Plays Nice With “The Hills”

When Whitney Port from The Hills cameoed (not a real word) on the latest episode of Entourage, a double-take was necessary!

How the most career-driven woman of The Hills cast managed to snag a couple of lines in one of my most enjoyable TV obsessions is beyond me. But I like it!

Whitney was playing a version of herself as a stylist’s assistant, and her brief appearance wasn’t hyped up; the show just slipped it on in there.

While her role wasn’t pivotal in the realm of the episode, I applaud Entourage for shaking simple things up and for treating us viewers to some, “Hey, isn’t that…?” moments to keep us alert. Who knew that when scripted Hollywood and Hollywood reality TV collided on camera, it could be so seamless!

Lil Wayne Is Expecting A Little One

Whether you love him or just give into his ubiquitous presence on the radio and in clubs, it’s hard to deny that Lil Wayne has had a heckuva year. From pushing more than 1 million album sales of Tha Carter III in its first week to appearing on SNL to getting a major shout-out from Olympic golden kid Michael Phelps, Wayne’s got much to celebrate.

But his pot is about to get even sweeter. At this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards he announced that his first son should be arriving in a few days – he already has a daughter.

And if you thought that you’d heard all the music that you could stand from Wayne over the past few months, brace yourself because the overtime working rapper is already cooking up a batch of new jams that will be featured on a fresh version of Tha Carter III. Looks like Weezy’s not planning on resting any time soon.

Leanne Earns “Project Runway” Crown

The Project Runway finale turned out to be solid, if a bit predictable – the savvy Leanne won. While Korto was my pick from day one, Leanne had begun to emerge as a judge favorite over the past few weeks, and we all know that momentum plays a large part in this competition. Plus her wave-inspired collection was pretty fly – in large part because of its cohesion. And the fact that her collection utilized sustainable materials in this era of green-ness didn’t hurt.

Though she was poised in defense mode during much of the night, by the time Kenley received her third place title, I think that she had finally been humbled a bit by the judges’ critiques that her ensembles looked uncannily like those from other designers’ collection ie. her Alexander McQueen-ish wedding dress. Still, I give her props for hand-painting most of her collection.

Finally, my passionate and innovative Korto. I still find it disheartening that after landing in the top 3 for the overwhelming majority of the season’s challenges, the judges somehow grew disenchanted with her designs toward the end of the race. However, I’m no women’s fashion expert, but something tells me that Korto’s penchant for creating pieces that flatter women of all shapes won’t go unnoticed by the fashion world and consumers alike. And after all, she did walk away with the title of “Fan Favorite” prize which will put a tidy sum of cash in her pockets!

Diddy Confirms Danity Kane Split

I thought that last week’s episode of Making the Band was the most uncomfortable episode that I’d ever see – this week’s finale blew that ep. out of the water!

I gotta give MTV, Danity Kane, and Diddy props for allowing such raw moments to happen live in front of the camera. With the future of Danity Kane hanging in limbo, the stakes were major – both for the 5 ladies who’d become sisters during their time in the group and the fans who’d invested Tuesday nights tracking the band and hard-earned dollars supporting them.

But it’s official folks: Aubrey and D. Woods are out of Danity Kane…for now.

The girls were swimming in pain as Sway tried to get down to the core of how the group’s remaining members – Dawn, Aundrea, and Shannon – planned on functioning without their two MIA sisters.

Their body language spoke volumes. I mean, the girls did not even wait for the final credits to roll before they darted off the stage. Even when Sway hinted that there would be a new season of Making the Band, the ladies seemed more unsure about the prospects of it happening than enthused about returning.

D. Woods couldn’t make it to share her side of the split, but Aubrey has got guts for days, and instead of apologizing, she spent her camera time spilling out an empowering plea for people faced with adversity to keep their haters at bay.

In fact, here’s a vid of Aubrey’s last words before the show where she even calls Diddy, “Sean”!

I felt uneasy watching Aubrey as Diddy warned her that unless she tames her ego, she’ll end up in a “dark, lonely place”. It was the kind of feeling that I used to get when I’d encounter a friend getting scolded by his mom about while we were playing Sega Genesis. I wanted to shrink and wish the scenario away, but this was indeed the reality of Danity Kane, and closing my eyes wouldn’t change a thing.

Call me naïve, but I’m holding out for a DK reunion. I don’t think that Aubrey has necessarily burned her bridge with Bad Boy? Are you with me?

Early Watch: Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies”

I would say that Beyonce’s comeback is in full-force, but in my dreamscape, she never left! Last week, B whet our appetite for her upcoming album by hitting us up with one of her new tracks “If I Were A Boy”, but today – oh today! – B has delivered a duo of compelling vids for us to munch on.

“If I Were A Boy” is a platform for B to display her acting chops, and from where I’m sitting, she’s doing a heckuva job. The storyline isn’t forced, and the moment in the video where she re-exchanges roles with her boyfriend is eerie, but it works. See for yourself:

And “Single Ladies” reminds us that even without flashy transitions and crazy cuts, B’s bomb body and slinky popping skills can still make us drool:

No lie, “Single Ladies” is hunger-inducing! I gotta go grab some lunch, but first, one more look!
