Backstage With ‘Idol’ Runner-Up Adam Lambert
Based on the judges’ praises and the media’s obsession with him, many of us tuned into the American Idol finale believing that Adam Lambert aka Glambert had this year’s crown in the bag. But in a display of democracy that foiled most assumptions, Glambert came in 2nd to the mellow, yet memorable, Kris Allen.
When I met up with Glambert following the finale, I got the sense, however, that his post-Idol career will still be laden with some fantastic entertainment opportunities. While backstage, decked out in his guyliner and black fingernail polish, the dude exuded confidence while addressing the media and showing love to his supporters. After 18 years of performing in front of audiences, this guy is ready to record!
And while Kris Allen’s debut album will probably have a chill John Mayer/Jason Mraz-ish vibe, I can’t place my finger on what a Glambert disc will sound like. But if the flocks of females who chanted his name as he passed them last night are any indication, his transition from the Idol stage to the Billboard charts should be a smooth one.

Adam,
I would like to extend my sincere congrats to you! Actually, you are the winner and had been from a get go! I truly hope that you will find a free spot in you upcoming undoubtedly super busy schedule and make a trip from CA to Hawaii. We would love to have you here!!!
Thank you for the most exciting AI ever…you brought me back into the times when I had a privilege to work with likes of Queen, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Mr. David Bowie and others…even though I’m retired from this career, I would come out of retirement for you!
Keep rocking, man!
Aloha,
Dagmar
